While working at BBC Nature Online I met Lucy Gatward, and we decided to set up darktrain.com together. The company did very well for a number of reasons, but I think the main one was our complimentary skill sets - I came from a technical background but could design well, and Lucy came from a design background but could code well. This meant that between us we had a deep understanding of both creative and technical issues.
Our clients were originally from the broadcasting industry (BBC Resources and Espresso Broadband for example), but by the the time we decided to wind up the company we were being approached by organisations like Future Publishing.
Most of the work that we did as darktrain is not available on the web, or it's been sufficiently altered for me to be wary of calling it 'ours' any more. The only one that's close to its original form is Espresso Broadband.
