Ian Parry was a photojournalist who died in a plane crash whilst on assignment for The Sunday Times during the Romanian revolution in 1989. He was 24 years of age. The Ian Parry Memorial Fund, now in its 13th year, was created by the Sunday Times and his friends and family in order to build something positive from such a tragic death.
An annual photographic competition is held for young photographers who are either attending a full time photographic course or who are under the age of 24. Entrants must submit a portfolio of work and a synopsis of a project they would undertake if they won.
The site has been redesigned and relaunched to coincide with the release of a book, Eyes Wide Open, collecting work by all the previous winners.
