Video Nation was a series of 5-minute short films about people's everyday life, broadcast daily on BBC 2. After coming off-air in the late 1990s, Video Nation Online was launched as a trial in 2001, with Radio Broadcast Journalists in four BBC regions being trained as Video Nation Producers. As the trial sites were so succesful, a further 14 regions were involved in the project in late 2002 / early 2003.

My role consisted of:

| - |
managing a complete rebranding, redesign and rebuild of the site
|
| - |
implementating an xml-based content publishing system
|
| - |
improving the use of streaming RealVideo, including broadband versions of all the shorts
|
| - |
editing short films using Avid and encoding them for the web
|
| - |
training and supporting the 18 regional producers
|

Within the first three months of relaunching, page impressions doubled. Iraq Shorts also started Video Nation's transition back to television.
